The Highland Police Department is responsible for keeping the city safe and secure and should be contacted by the public to report crimes and any suspicious activities.  The office phone number for the police department is 785-442-3212.  For all emergencies call 9-1-1.  At certain times, city officers may not be available, in which case calls may be handled by the Doniphan County Sheriff’s office.  The police department is now able to do VIN inspections at a cost of $10.  VIN inspections are required for all out of state titles before tags will be issued.  Vehicle un-locks will be done by the police department only if you sign a waiver of liability.
